Why choose white cloud? This is an easy question for us to answer, but to make it easier lets take a closer look at each of the individual components that comprise an electronic cigarette.

Battery

Nearly all electronic cigarettes made today use a Lithium Polymer (LiPo) battery. Now it is important to note that not all batteries are created equally, just because a similar chemistry is used, doesn’t mean the end user will experience the same performance. For instance, have you ever compared the difference between an Energizer or Duracell battery and an Eveready battery? If you made the comparison using a flashlight as the powered device, you might have noticed that the Energizer or Duracell batteries lasted more than 2 or 3 times longer than a discount brand of the same Alkaline chemistry. The same is true of all battery types in fact, which is why White Cloud batteries are more expensive than the competition. There has been a lot of talk lately about the voltage of various battery brands, let’s be perfectly clear that the voltage of a Lithium Polymer battery is strictly determined by the battery chemistry and design. Every Lithium Polymer battery is rated at 4.23 volts in a fully charged state; conversely they are all rated at about 2.7 volts in a fully discharged state. Furthermore, if a LiPo battery were to be charged beyond 4.235 volts it would be at risk of ruining the microscopic battery cells and become unable to hold a charge, but our battery will not explode. To the opposite end of that spectrum, a battery that is allowed to discharge below 2.7 volts would be unable to recharge to a fully charged state. This is why internal and external overcharge protection measures must be strictly adhered to.

Cartridge:
As with batteries, cartridges also have similarities that are present across all brands. For instance, every electronic cigarette makes use of a heating element and a liquid mixture of propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, nicotine, and flavorings.

Let's compare a 1-piece cartridge vs. 2-piece cartridge:


2-Piece Cartridge
Some e-cigs use a two-piece cartridge design comprised of a re-usable atomizer and a disposable nicotine pad encased in a plastic cap that can either be disposed of after each use, or carefully rewetted with an eyedropper filled with nicotine (not recommended).

Pros:

• Very low cost

Cons:

• Extremely prone to leaking fluid that can stain fabrics
• Only retains enough fluid for about 40 puffs
• Atomizer must be cleaned daily and replaced weekly
• Fluid can leak into the battery rendering it useless
• Short shelf life
• Should not be removed from atomizer until fully used

1-Piece Cartridge
The most popular design (used by White Cloud since 2008) is the 1-piece or so called cartomizer. This design incorporates the heating element within the cartridge, and surrounds it with absorbent material saturated with a nicotine mixture--obviating the need to clean or replace the vaporizer. Most electronic cigarettes go the easy route and use a very primitive design established by Chinese-mass-production e-cigarette mills. Although these designs work, they are very inconsistent and rarely if ever provide a smooth, pleasurable smoking experience. Some even place the heating element so close to the external casing (the part that you touch with your fingers) that it can overheat the cartridge and burn your lips.

Pros:

• Very resistant to leaking
• Retains enough fluid for 200-400 puffs (depending on internal design)
• No separate atomizer needed
• Up to 9 months shelf life
• Can be removed from battery at any time

Cons:

• More expensive
• Quality is highly dependent on internal structure

Smooth Draw Cartridge:
What makes our smoothdraw cartridge so smooth? Like so many things the theory is simple but the practice is difficult. To properly understand our cartridge design we must first address the way in which we manage our company. As far as we know, white cloud is the only electronic cigarette manufacturer with a dedicated and bonded factory. Most electronic cigarette brands are simply OEM branded Chinese designs. Name any electronic cigarette brand on the market today, chances are good that the product they are selling is different in name only from all other similar models. If you don’t believe us, please take a look inside. You’ll notice that for the most part they all have the same components and the same internal structure. only when a company is actually in control of the design, factory, and workers; can the quality of a product truly be controlled.

Because our smoothdraw cartridges have been designed by us and are assembled according to a very specific process--placing the heater coil directly in the center of the cartridge--this ensures a smooth and even migration of liquid from the nicotine wrap to the heating coil--eliminating the possibility of overheating the cartridge or burning the users lips. Because of the unobstructed pathway created by our vapor stack and silicone bell trap, the draw is nothing but smooth. This is the white cloud difference!
